MMR Healthcare has initiated a new and immersive program for our community: the Diabetes Prevention Recognition Program. In 2018, MMR Healthcare gained official diabetes prevention recognition from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. To further our impact, we have established Gia Stare, LPN, and certified dietician, as your coach in our weekly diabetes prevention program. The goal of this class is to provide you with the education, coaching, and motivation you need to stop diabetes or treat it.

The Diabetes Prevention Program showed that people who are at high risk for type 2 Diabetes can prevent and delay the disease by losing a modest amount of weight through lifestyle changes (dietary changes and increased physical activity) Prediabetes is a serious health condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough yet to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Approximately 84 million American adults – more than 1 out of 3- have prediabetes. Of those with prediabetes 90% do not know they have it.
 
Prediabetes puts you at risk of developing type two diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. The good news is that if you have prediabetes the CDC-led National Diabetes Program can help you make lifestyle changes to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes and other serious health problems.

- Finding out how to manage stress, stay motivated, and solve problems that can slow your progress
